Though the summer weather here in New Jersey is winding down, many homeowners are still trying to squeeze in as much outdoor time as possible. They’re also looking to tackle those outdoor renovations before the winter months start rolling in. Some of our clients are turning to porch renovations, while others are thinking of repairing or updating their deck or patio so come next summer, they’re ready to enjoy!
Exterior Renovations and Repairs Are a Great Return on Investment
Outdoor improvements, like a front porch or deck, can be enjoyed by current homeowners, but these renovations also bring about a great return on investment. Curb appeal has a big impact on prospective homeowners and functional outdoor living space is also highly sought after. A well-crafted and aesthetically-appealing porch that offers homeowners greater living space ticks the boxes. Remodeling’s Cost vs. Value 2017 report suggests that exterior and curb appeal projects create a greater return on investment when compared to interior renovations. Regardless of the type of outdoor renovation, any homeowner considering outdoor improvements should find a contractor who is experienced in exterior renovations and the proper materials for outdoor use.
We Use Quality Materials for Our Porch and Deck Projects
After 30 years with the same front porch, our Jackson-based client decided it was time for a few improvements. Due to age and the settling of beams, the porch and its roof were starting to sag! To best address this issue, we discussed with our client the need to use high-quality materials that would have a longer outdoor lifespan and hold up to the elements more successfully than the wood currently used on the porch.
We replaced the client’s sagging wood porch with composite decking, vinyl railings and vinyl structural posts. Long-term structural integrity, aesthetic appeal and low maintenance made these materials the right choice. Once the decision was made on the materials, our expert team went to work on leveling the porch girder and roof beam. After the area was leveled off, the renovation proceeded as planned. We wrapped up this renovation in just a few days by enclosing the bottom of the porch perimeter with a vinyl privacy lattice.
The homeowners were thrilled with their updated front porch, which was safe again for the family, carried a transferrable 25-year materials warranty, and increased the value and curb appeal of their home.
